Ernie Swanson came to "The Flats" about 1915. He helped Taggarts, Davis', and Henrys' plant & harvest rutabagas and built "Swanson's Place" east side of Salmon River. He decided farming was not for him, moved & founded Elfin Cove. White's renamed his cabin the "Bear's Nest" in 1925.
