81  First Rutabaga Crop Ever Produced At Strawberry Point, Alaska.
  • Date: 1915
  • Description: Strawberry Point's proud farmers display their very first crop of rutabagas which would become both their food staple and produce to trade or sell. Wooden farm wagon pulled by "Strawberry Flats" first 2 horses. Bill Taggart on Lt. & Verne Henry on Rt. Open field on west side Salmon River.

  • Description: Mrs. Leslie (Bonnie) Parker & sons Leroy, Lorne & Leland (Lee in arms) inspects the "clamshell" loading doors of this U. S. Airforce C-124C that landed on the Gustavus Airfield. 87  Horse Drawn Work Toboggan Snow Scene; Strawberry Point, Alaska.
  • Date: 1920 - 1929
  • Description: Mobile work bin for hauling firewood (or other cargo) on horse drawn toboggan sled. Back of driver seen on left. Crossing narrow Good River ravine slough bridge south to north. Approaching the rear of Abraham Lincoln Parker's homestead to the right (east) and out of sight in the trees.

  • Description: Lake Independence (Bartlett Lake) seen through the trees. Swimmers on grassy knoll Lt. to Rt. Charles White (18), Nell & Glen Parker (newlyweds), Dorothy (15) & Genevieve (14) White. Discovered on a July 4th expedition, the Parker family dubbed the Lake "Independence".

  • Description: Ore cart rails and chute dump at Leroy Gold Mine at Ptarmigan Creek overlooking Johns Hopkins Inlet. Commercial partnership with Leroy Mining Co. contracted for 12 yrs. by Leslie Parker, owner Leroy gold claim located 7-2-1938. Site photos often depicted stages of repair or construction.
